How do I transition my slides?
Transitioning a slide in a PowerPoint presentation means that the slide has a special effect when it changes to another slide. For example, when changing a slide in PPT you can make it transition in a whirling pattern to the next slide.
Open up a PPT presentation by looking for the red 'P' icon at the bottom of your screen. Insert another slide so you have two slides. Have a play around in PPT and see if you can work out how you might make a slide transition.
*Hint - have a look in the top toolbar. *
Think you've figured it out? Go to the 'Slide Show' tab in the top toolbar and click on 'From beginning slide'. Did it work?

How do I animate objects?
What does animation mean? In your Technologies book, write down what you think animation in a PPT would involve. Share and compare your response with a partner. Is there anything else you'd like to add to your definition?
Go into Google and search for 'animation definition'. A few different options will come up. Which one do you think is the definition we are talking about when trying to animate objects in a PPT? Write that definition in your Technologies book.

Animation of an object in PPT is when we make it move in a certain way. We can animate an object so it enters in a certain way, so it is emphasised on the slide, or so it exits in a certain way. This means that when we click the mouse, the object will either enter, exit, or be emphasised!
Now it's time to animate! Open the PPT presentation you started earlier and complete the following steps:
1. Open up clipart and insert a picture of a sun on the first slide
2. Play around with PPT and see if you can figure out how to animate the sun's entry
*Hint - have a look at the top toolbar in PPT*
3. Put the PPT in slide show mode to see if you were successful
4. Save your PPT
Have a look at this YouTube video on how to add animations in PPT. You will need your headphone to listen to this. You only need to watch 1 minute of the video.
If your animations didn't work, follow the steps in the video and see if they work now.
If your animations did work, ask yourself if you followed the same steps as the video describes.
In your Technologies book, write down the steps to animating a PPT so you remember for the future.
Great work! You're doing really well!

How do I hyperlink?
The final step in this lesson involves learning how to hyperlink a PPT.
Do you know what a hyperlink is? Write a heading in your technologies book titled 'Hyperlinks'. Underneath, write what your understanding of hyperlinking is.
Share and compare your thoughts with a partner. Is there anything else you need to add to your definition?
Now complete the following steps:
1. Go to Google
2. Type in 'hyperlinking in PowerPoint'
3. Write down what hyperlinking is in your Technologies book
4. Take note of whether you were correct with your initial thoughts.
Well done! Let's have a go at hyperlinking ourselves. Add a third slide to your PPT slide and write the word 'Sunshine' on it. Using the sun picture on your first PPT slide, try and hyperlink it so when you click on it, it takes you to the slide with the word sunshine. Try playing around to see if you can figure out how to do it.
How did you go? Write in your Technologies book if you were successful or not. If you were successful, what steps did you undertake?
Talk to a partner doing the same activity. Did they figure out how to do it? If not, what steps did they try? Were they the same as yours? If they were, what did they do differently to you? Discuss this between yourselves and write in your Technologies book what you talked about under a heading of 'Hyperlinking discussion'.
If you were unsuccessful with your hyperlinking attempt, try right-clicking on the picture of the sun. Do you see anything there that might help you? Try and figure out the rest for yourself.
Still having a bit of trouble? Follow the steps listed on this website to help you. If you're still having trouble, ask a friend or a teacher.
Write down the steps to hyperlinking to a different slide in your Technologies book.
Great work! Now create a new slide after the sun with a cherry on it. Try and hyperlink the picture of the cherry to the word 'fruit' on a new slide. Show your teacher your PPT once you have done this so they can check it.
Once they've checked it, you can go onto lesson three by clicking the button below!
